Cubs and Crushers, May 25th 2018
Dear Friend of Crushers Club,
I wanted to let you know about a fun and worthwhile event, organized by the Cubs Charities coming up on Friday May 25th, that features several of our top youth boxers. Joe Maddon's Respect 90 Main Event takes place in the Wintrust Grand Banking Hall (231 S. LaSalle Street), where a full-sized boxing ring will be set up to host a number of amateur boxing matches that night.

Every week, our calendar is full packed with boxing galas, events, fairs or projects we are proud off and we want you to know about. Only this month, Crushers are building a plane (!!!), attending Joe Maddons Respect 90 boxing event and presenting their skills at a Job fair. Fox 32: Chicago woman turns lives around in Englewood through boxing
In one of Chicago's roughest, gang-infested neighborhoods is a ring of hope that is teaching young men how to dream and fight for their futures.
It's a dream that took a woman from a comfortable, Northside, upper middle class life to the heart of Englewood where crime, poverty and gangs have chased away hope for so many. But with passion and purpose, this one woman is training young men how to beat their environment.

Jean Marc documented fight night organized by the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in Chicago where four Crushers Club members participated. Robert, Ivry, Chris and Isiah were representing Engelwood's Crushers and it was Robert's first fight.

Bittersweet: Welcome to Englewood
Just a couple months ago Forbes published an article citing that more Americans have been killed in Chicago since 2001 than in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars combined. The murder rate is at a 20-year high, with the victims predominately young black men and boys from just a couple of neighborhoods—Englewood consistently at the top of the list.
